My period is always late and i have ovarian cysts? help?

Last year I was in severe pain with stomach pain and my mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. I went to the OBGYN and he looked into my ovaries and said they look like swiss cheese with tons of cysts in them. Is this the reason my period is irregular? I skip months and when I get my period it lasts 9 days. I'm only 18 and worried for my health. Is any teen going thru this ? Please help
