My samsung wave isnt recognised by my laptop at all?

It says connected on my phone but it doesnt show up in Kies, Windows media player or the comp itself ? Ive tried the different modes like 'samsung kies' 'Mass storage' all tht bollox, uninstalled kies and reinstalled it, it just wont show up at all ? But it says on the screen connected? any ideas?
